Global top 30 in reputation

NUS has been ranked as the top university in Singapore and 27th globally in Times Higher Education (THE) World Reputation Rankings 2017, published by THE on 15 June.

Since the Rankings began in 2011, NUS has consistently garnered a spot among the world’s 30 most powerful university brands, testament to the University’s reputation.

The University has a long term strategy of building broad-based excellence across a comprehensive range of disciplines, especially those that are of strategic importance to the nation. NUS would also remain focused on nurturing future-ready graduates, developing lifelong education, conducting world-class research and contributing to economic and societal advancement through research, translation, entrepreneurship and service.

The Rankings lists the world’s most prestigious universities and has been compiled based on academic insight from experienced, published scholars. Invited members of academia provided their views on excellence in research and teaching within their respective disciplines and at institutions which they are familiar with. The survey was conducted between January and March this year and received close to 11,000 responses from 137 countries.

Other lists compiled by THE include the THE World University Rankings and Asia University Rankings, which use a broad and comprehensive range of 13 separate performance indicators across the full range of a university’s activities based largely on hard metrics of research excellence.
