Landmark changes in law Honours degree

Starting with this year’s graduating cohort, NUS Law is doubling the number of students eligible for First Class Honours degree from the current top 5 per cent of each graduating law class to the top 10 per cent. More students will also be awarded the Second Class (Upper Division) Honours degree, expected to be the top 65 per cent to 68 per cent of each cohort, up from the current 50 per cent.

The news, which received positive feedback from students and the legal community, was announced by NUS Law Dean Professor Simon Chesterman in a letter to students on 7 March. This honours policy revision will bring NUS closer to comparable universities in the UK and Australia.
