New members for NUS Board

NUS welcomed three new members to its Board of Trustees for terms beginning on 1 April 2015. The new members are: Mr Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Singapore Airlines; Mr Chaly Mah Chee Kheong, CEO of Deloitte Asia Pacific; and Mr Ng Wai King, Joint Managing Partner of WongPartnership LLP.
Mr Wong Ngit Liong, Chairman of NUS Board of Trustees, said: “Choon Phong, Chaly and Wai King are prominent leaders in their respective fields and bring with them diverse perspectives and wealth of knowledge that will help to raise the global repute and standing of NUS and also to further advance its position as a leading global university centred in Asia,” he said.
Mr Goh joined Singapore Airlines in 1990 and has held senior management positions both locally and overseas. He sits on the Board of various organisations, including SIA Engineering Company, International Air Transport Association and Virgin Australia Holdings Limited.
Mr Mah has been with Deloitte for more than 35 years, holding multiple senior management portfolios in Deloitte Asia Pacific, Deloitte Singapore and Deloitte Southeast Asia. He has extensive experience serving both multinational and local companies across a wide spectrum of industries from financial services to construction, electronics, retail and manufacturing.
In addition to serving as the Joint Managing Partner of WongPartnership LLP, Mr Ng heads the Corporate Group where he oversees mergers and acquisitions as well as private equity transactions. He graduated from NUS Faculty of Law where he was awarded the Justice A V Winslow Prize.
Stepping down from the Board on 31 March are Professor Saw Swee Hock, Professorial Fellow of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies; Mr Paul Ma, Chairman of Mapletree Logistics Trust Management Ltd; and Mr Davinder Singh, Senior Counsel and CEO of Drew & Napier LLC. Mr Wong thanked the outgoing Trustees for their dedicated service and outstanding contributions, saying: “The NUS community has benefitted immensely from their commitment, leadership and support. We are indeed privileged to have some of the best minds on the Board.”
