NUS holds first-ever Online Open House

NUS is holding its first-ever e-Open House this year

NUS Open Day, one of the University’s biggest events, will go virtual this year.

Instead of a physical Open Day, the University will hold an e-Open House from 26 February to 5 March, each day focusing on selected faculties and schools.

Open Day, which drew more than 31,000 visitors in 2019, usually features a range of activities to introduce prospective students to the myriad of programmes that the University offers, including booths, talks, sample lectures and tutorials, as well as tours of the campus and residential options.

This year’s e-Open House will shift all that onto the online arena. Here are five things to look forward to:

  1. Get a taste of academic life through webinars

Prospective students will be able to get a taste of lectures and tutorials through online talks and webinars. Each faculty will also be conducting live chats or online forums, as well as opening dedicated hotlines, to give prospective students a chance to clear all their concerns and queries on the courses available. The NUS Office of Admissions will also be holding a daily livestream and a hotline to call for any admission-related questions.

  1. Find out about programmes to broaden your education

The eight-day long event will not only focus on the University’s academic offerings, however. Prospective students will be able to gain an insight into the variety of other programmes available, such as the NUS Overseas Colleges and career readiness programmes by the Centre for Future-ready Graduates.

  1. Experience life on campus

Engage with current students and alumni to find out what campus life is like beyond the lectures, lab sessions and tutorials. Join virtual tours of the campus, and find out about student organisations, sporting events, on-campus concerts, conferences and more.

  1. Check out campus living

Prospective students will also be able to take virtual tours through Halls and Residential Colleges to catch a glimpse at the facilities, as well as speak to residents through live chats and forums, as they share about their home away from home. Residents will share some highlights of campus living including the various cultural events, sports events and co-curricular activities available at the various residential options.

  1. Explore the opportunities available for adult learners

Not forgetting NUS’ commitment towards lifelong learning, the School of Continuing And Lifelong Education, as well as the NUS Institute of Systems Science which caters to the working population, will also have various talks and presentations available for interested members of the public.

Further information and the schedule for NUS’ first ever e-Open House can be accessed on the dedicated website.
