NUS Medicine Dean assumes NUHS Deputy CE

Assoc Prof Yeoh (left) will take on the role of the National University Health System (NUHS) Deputy Chief Executive (Academic Enterprise) and Assoc Prof Sim the title of NUHS Deputy Chief Executive (Clinical Enterprise)

Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (NUS Medicine) Dean Associate Professor Yeoh Khay Guan has taken on the mantle of National University Health System (NUHS) Deputy Chief Executive (Academic Enterprise) with effect from 1 April. He will assist NUHS Chief Executive Professor John Eu-Li Wong as well as heads of NUS faculties and schools and national speciality disease centres in their academic missions. The list of entities includes: 

  • NUS Medicine (including the Alice Lee Centre for Nursing Studies)
  • NUS Faculty of Dentistry
  • NUS Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health (SSHSPH)
  • National University Hospital (NUH)
  • National University Heart Centre, Singapore (NUHCS)
  • National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS)
  • National University Centre for Oral Health, Singapore

Assoc Prof Yeoh will also supervise the work of the NUHS Research Office.

In addition, Associate Professor Joe Sim, who holds adjunct appointments with both NUS Medicine and SSHSPH, will take on the role of NUHS Deputy Chief Executive (Clinical Enterprise). He will oversee the clinical mission of institutions such as NUH, NUHCS, NCIS and other NUHS clinical facilities.   

NUS President Professor Tan Chorh Chuan, who is also the NUHS Chairman, said the two senior appointments would enable the NUHS to forge ahead with great vision and energy as an academic health system, characterised by its excellence in healthcare delivery, education and research.

"I am confident that both Assoc Prof Yeoh Khay Guan and Adjunct Assoc Prof Joe Sim will bring the NUHS to even higher levels of excellence and achievement and serve our students and patients better, creating distinctive value for Singapore, added Prof Tan.
