Prof Tan hosting the discussion

NUS President Professor Tan Chorh Chuan hosted the visit of a 16-member delegation from the World Bank Group led by its Regional Vice President, East Asia and Pacific Mr Axel van Trotsenburg, on 1 October. Ministry of Education Senior Deputy Director (Planning/International Cooperation) Mr Calvin Chong and Ministry of Health Director (Policy Research & Economics Office) Dr Kelvin Bryan Tan, were also in attendance. Among the topics discussed were Singapore's experience in developing state of readiness for epidemics and pandemics, and the workings of an integrated educational system. Headquartered in Washington DC, USA, the World Bank provides financial and technical assistance to developing countries around the world to reduce poverty and support development.
