21st Century Maritime Silk Road

Prof Tommy Koh, Chairman of the Centre for International Law at NUS Faculty of Law expressed support for the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road proposed by China's President Xi Jinping because of the benefits it will bring to the countries and people of the Indo-Pacific. He opined that the region should have ownership of the new road and that it should be open and inclusive, based upon the principles of mutual respect, mutual benefit and the rule of law, in order to succeed.
