A burning issue: Calculating the cost of the haze

Low Tuck Kwong Distinguished Professor Sumit Agarwal from the Dept of Finance at NUS Business School discussed a study conducted with other NUS faculties that examined the effect of haze pollution on behaviour by Singaporeans and visitors during the major haze incident in 2015. The researchers found that a 100 per cent increase in the Pollutant Standards Index was associated with an average increase of 14.3 per cent in hourly water consumption.
