The G20 mechanism and imperfect globalisation

Dr Chen Gang, Senior Research Fellow at the East Asian Institute at NUS, examined the recent G20 summit in Germany which was met with large-scale demonstrations again. He noted there is a need to re-evaluate the effectiveness of the G20 in promoting globalisation, and that the deeper challenges facing global governance amid the rise of populism must be given due consideration.
