Guide to a confusing world

Prof Tommy Koh, Special Adviser at the Institute of Policy Studies, a think-tank within the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, noted the apparent reversal of roles between the US and China on free trade and globalisation as a source of confusion. He opined that Asia must continue to uphold free trade and globalisation, and continue to welcome immigrants to our shores but calibrate the intake to avoid a backlash. He added that the time has come for Asia to champion the liberal world order that has enabled the region to develop and prosper and to produce the three biggest growth stories of human history, namely, the rise of China, India and Asean.
