Highlighting the strength of four Aceh Sultanahs

Asst Prof Sher Banu from the Dept of Malay Studies at NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences authored a book titled Sovereign Women in a Muslim Kingdom: The Sultanahs of Aceh, 1641-1699. It examined the reign of four Sultanahs of the Islamic kingdom of Aceh for half of the 17th century and provides insights on their leadership, relations with male elites and encounters with European envoys who visited their court.
