On homosexuality and cohabitation – differences on moral issues need not lead to polarised society

Dr Mathew Mathews, Senior Research Fellow from the Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS and Head of IPS Social Lab, and Mr Leonard Lim, Research Associate from the same institute noted that there is growing divergence in views on moral issues based on individuals’ age, religious affiliations and backgrounds. They opined that if present trends continue, there is likely to be increased contestation in the public sphere and suggested establishing certain norms to preserve a common space to allow people to live peacefully despite their differences.
