Ideological roots behind diplomatic strategies for China’s “Belt and Road” initiative

Dr Chen Gang, Senior Research Fellow from the East Asian Institute at NUS noted that the strategies proposed and implemented during the era of incumbent Chinese President Xi Jinping show that China has completely changed its diplomatic principles, and is now seeking to become a world superpower. He believes that the implementation of the “Belt and Road” initiative would not be a smooth sailing route in the international arena with Western power worried about their own political and economic interests.
