Individual will, accountability and collective efforts in battling epidemics

Prof Zheng Yongnian from the East Asian Institute at NUS noted that the lack of individual responsibility was more evident on social media platforms during the Covid-19 epidemic, whereby various extreme events were exploited and, rumours were created and spread in the pursuit of viewership. Prof Zheng opined that for collective anti-epidemic measures to be effective, it would require individual will and responsibility.
