Inflation expectations shaped by rise of premium goods: study

A study by Low Tuck Kwong Distinguished Prof Sumit Agarwal, Head of the Dept of Finance at NUS Business School; Mr Chua Yeow Hwee, Instructor from the Dept of Economics at NUS Faculty of Arts and Sciences; and Asst Prof Song Changcheng from SMU has found that households tend to see inflation higher than it really is, and the trend can be attributed to rising living standards and the variety of consumer goods available in Singapore.
