The National Research Foundation (NRF) has awarded S$5 million in new funding to support collaborations between industry practitioners and institutes of higher learning to develop new applications for spintronics, an emerging area of research said to hold great potential in creating the next generation of electronic devices. Members of the Singapore Spintronics Consortium (SG-SPIN), a consortium was set up in 2014 by NUS, NTU and supported by NRF, in addition to companies and researchers can contact NUS Enterprise to apply for funding. NUS Enterprise will also set up a Spintronics Technology Pavilion at InnovFest Unbound 2015, an innovation festival celebrating disruptive technologies on 28 April 2015.
