Modi plays Hindu card in pivotal state

Dr Ronojoy Sen, Visiting Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of South Asian Studies at NUS discussed the election result in India’s largest and most populous state of Uttar Pradesh (UP), which saw the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) win three quarters of the seats in the UP Assembly. The result confirmed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s star shines as brightly as it did in 2014 when he was elected India’s Prime Minister, and underscored the party’s dominance in a pivotal state.
