New book “Imperial Creatures” by NUS prof

In his book titled “Imperial Creatures”, Assoc Prof Timothy Barnard from the Dept of History at NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences charted the effect of imperialism on Singapore's fauna. Assoc Prof Barnard shared that he turned his attention to the stories of animals because they enable one to approach Singapore’s past in a manner that makes it easier to comprehend how an outside force - British culture, administration and society - was able to enforce its power over a distant land.
