No safety in numbers for pin-striped tit babbler

A new study led by Mr David Tan, Research Assistant from the Lee Kong Chian Natural History Museum at NUS, found that the pin-striped tit babbler (Mixornis gularis), a small brown bird in Singapore, has a startlingly low genetic diversity. This could have many adverse repercussions, which could eventually result in an elevated risk of the bird’s extinction in an area.
