NUS researchers: Mangosteens could be the cure to tuberculosis

Researchers from the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at NUS found that a natural compound found in mangosteens – xanthones, with its anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial properties, could be effective in inhibiting and killing Mycobacterium tuberculosis, the bacterium responsible for causing tuberculosis. The study began three years ago and was published in the European Journal of Medicinal Chemistry.
