NUS team finds quasiparticle with unique properties

A research team led by Prof Thirumalai Venky Venkatesan, Director of the NUS Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Initiative, discovered a new quasiparticle called a "polaronic trion" that can absorb and emit light, and be instantly destroyed with a small applied voltage, which could be useful for optical modulators.
