‘One Belt, One Road’ and the ‘writing’ of international economic rules

Prof Zheng Yongnian, Director of the East Asian Institute at NUS noted that there are some people who are now looking to have China join the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) to replace the US as the maker of international economics rules. However, he opined that it is not in China’s interest to be part of the TPP for several reasons, one of which is the high standards required.
