Performance bonus spat may be just the tip of an iceberg

Assoc Prof Mak Yuen Teen from the Department of Accounting at NUS Business School discussed about the resignation of two independent directors of Lian Beng due to differences in opinion regarding the computation of the performance bonus of the company's three executive directors. He opined that this episode raises many issues relating to executive remuneration and corporate governance challenges in family­controlled and family­run companies.
