Personal opinion trumped online criticism when it came to GE voting: NUS study
A study by Asst Prof Elmie Nekmat from the Department of Communications and New Media at the NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences showed that users of open social-media platforms, such as Facebook, were perceived to be most critical of the Government. However, the opinions expressed on closed social-media platforms, such as WhatsApp, appeared to have been more significant in influencing voting patterns. The findings were presented at the Institute of Policy Studies Symposium on Media and Internet Use During General Election 2015.
