Provision of long-term funding avenues for the seven strategies of the future economy

In shaping the directions and strategies for Singapore’s future economy, Assoc Prof Tan Khee Giap, Co-Director of the Asia Competitiveness Institute at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS and Dr Wang Peng, Research Fellow also from the Institute, highlighted that there will need to be basic consensus among the majority of stakeholders and the support of these stakeholders. They opined that we will need to re-assess Singapore’s growth potential; re-shape our new economy structure; re-consider the sustainability of our welfare system; maintain an open policy towards foreign labour; and come up with a clear, pragmatic vision of Singapore’s long-term development.
