Reading programme initiated by NUS students and alumni volunteers helps children from underprivileged families

Bringing Love to Every Single Soul (BLESS), a voluntary welfare group, which comprises NUS students and alumni volunteers, has started a Shining Star Reads@South West reading programme for underprivileged children between the ages of 4 and 9 who live in rental flats in the South West District. BLESS is also working with the National Institute of Education (NIE) to design a reading programme that incorporates learning projects and activities of the NIE Strategies for English Language Learning and Reading (STELLAR) programme in primary schools.
