Top economist warns of ‘explosion in leverage’

Speaking at the Asian Monetary Policy Forum co-organised by the School of Business at University of Chicago Booth, NUS Business School and the Monetary Authority of Singapore, Dr Willem Buiter, Citi’s global chief economist, cautioned that a decade after the last financial crisis, the level of debt being taken on by corporations and households in the US is hitting levels that should concern regulators.
