Prof Kishore Mahbubani, Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS shared that the election of Madam Halimah Yacob as the eighth President of Singapore offers all non-Malay Singapore citizens a unique learning moment to know more about Malay culture and customs. He opined that the influence and impact of Malay culture on the world will continue to grow steadily as the economies of Indonesia and Malaysia continue to grow steadily, and Singapore will be surrounded by this Malay cultural renaissance. He encouraged all to deepen their understanding of Malay culture as this will help us better understand the cultural environment of the region in which our children and grandchildren will grow up.
