Why banning tuition will only make things worse

Dr Kelvin Seah from the Dept of Economics at NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences noted that the South Korea government had banned tuition in 1980 but lifted the ban in 2000 as it was found to be ineffective and counterproductive. He opined that a better way of discouraging the intense competition between children in Singapore is to tweak the education system so that parents and their children see less of a need to engage in it
