Prof Zheng Yongnian, Director of the East Asian Institute at NUS, discussed the ‘Tocqueville Trap’, where those who have successfully carried out a revolution are themselves removed through a revolution, and whether China is at risk of facing such a fate if it fails to continue to carry out reforms.
