Wouldn’t it be nice to have more public holidays?

Asst Prof Sin Harng Luh from the Dept of Geography at NUS Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences opined that the recent Golden Week in China and extra public holiday in South Korea are probably driven with the aspiration to make people spend, rather than rest. She added that perhaps the paid-leave system that spreads out vacations and time off work is not so bad after all when one compares this to the Golden Week – as long as employees are allowed to go on leave, and not have to take their work along on holiday.
