NUS Appoints New Members to its Board of Trustees

The National University of Singapore (NUS) today announced the appointment of three new members to its Board of Trustees for terms beginning on 1 April 2015. The new members are: Mr Goh Choon Phong, Chief Executive Officer of Singapore Airlines; Mr Chaly Mah Chee Kheong, Chief Executive Officer of Deloitte Asia Pacific; and Mr Ng Wai King, Joint Managing Partner of WongPartnership.

Three members of the NUS Board of Trustees are stepping down on 31 March 2015. They are: Professor Saw Swee Hock, Professorial Fellow of the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies; Mr Paul Ma, Chairman of Mapletree Logistics Trust Management Ltd; and Mr Davinder Singh, Senior Counsel and Chief Executive Officer of Drew & Napier LLC.

Mr Wong Ngit Liong, Chairman of the NUS Board, said, "We welcome Choon Phong, Chaly and Wai King to our Board. They are prominent leaders in their respective fields and bring with them diverse perspectives and wealth of knowledge that will help to raise the global repute and standing of NUS and also to further advance its position as a leading global university centred in Asia."

He added, "We are deeply grateful to Swee Hock, Paul and Davinder for their dedicated service and outstanding contributions to the University. The NUS community has benefitted immensely from their commitment, leadership and support. We are indeed privileged to have some of the best minds on the Board."

The NUS Board of Trustees comprises 24 members appointed by the Minister for Education, and is chaired by Mr Wong Ngit Liong, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Venture Corporation Limited. The Board comprises eminent business leaders, academics, entrepreneurs, and professionals from the public service and private sectors. The full list of Trustees can be found in Annex 1.
