NUS appoints new trustee to its board

The National University of Singapore (NUS) today announced the appointment of Ms Elaine Yew Wen Suen, Member of Global Executive Committee and concurrently Managing Partner Singapore of Egon Zehnder, to its Board of Trustees with effect from 1 April 2014.

Mr Wong Ngit Liong, NUS Chairman, said, “Elaine has expertise in talent strategy for global companies as well as in succession planning for CEOs and other C-level positions. She also advises some of the world's leading corporations on board succession and performance, senior level talent management and leadership development. Her appointment will bring on board a wealth of diverse experiences and enriching perspectives that will help steer NUS as it continues to make strong progress as a highly respected, global centre of education and research.”

The University also announced that Mr Edward D'Silva, a member of the NUS Board since 2003, will be stepping down from 31 March 2014.

Mr Wong added, “We are deeply grateful to Edward for more than a decade of unwavering support and contributions to the University. Such dedication would not have been possible if not for his great passion for education and students. He has provided oversight in shaping the direction and thrust of the University and participated actively in most of its events and activities..”

The NUS Board of Trustees comprises 24 members appointed by the Minister for Education, and is chaired by Mr Wong Ngit Liong, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Venture Corporation Limited. NUS Trustees are eminent business leaders, academics, entrepreneurs and professionals from the public and private sector. The full list of Trustees can be found in Annex 1.
