NUS graduates rated 17th most employable in the world in latest Global Employability University Ranking

NUS is the only Singapore university in the global top 20

The National University of Singapore (NUS) has been placed 17th in the world in a global ranking that measures how universities perform on graduate employability, up from 39th place in 2014. It is also the only Singapore university to be among the world 's top 20.

The Global Employability University Ranking 2015 is designed and commissioned by French human resource consulting agency Emerging and carried out by the German market research firm Trendence, and revealed exclusively by the Times Higher Education earlier today. The survey was conducted with over 2,200 recruiters from 21 countries, who were asked to vote for the universities that, from their professional experience, were producing the best "ready-for-work" graduates.

NUS Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost, Professor Tan Eng Chye said, "We are delighted that NUS graduates have been recognised by employers globally as among the best in the world. This is a strong affirmation of the quality of NUS graduates and the University 's focus on producing 'future-ready ' graduates. It is a proud moment for NUS and Singapore."

Noting the fast-changing nature of knowledge and information, Prof Tan said, "It is vital to prepare our students to be agile and adaptable, with the right mindset towards lifelong learning. Through a holistic combination of local and overseas experiential programmes, enhanced general education curriculum and personalised career advising, we aim to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, and ability to approach ideas and issues in creative, thoughtful and multidisciplinary approaches. We prepare our students for a lifetime of careers so that they can make a valued difference in whatever role or roles they may take on in the future."

At NUS, the educational experience includes an integrated curriculum that is developed closely with industry leaders local and global, internships with top companies in Singapore and overseas as well as study abroad programmes that include entrepreneurship experiences through the NUS Overseas Colleges programme in six vibrant hubs across some of the most exciting cities in the world, and student exchange opportunities with 300 leading universities across 50 countries.

The international employability survey also asked recruiters to answer questions about the ideal attributes of graduates and universities. The survey revealed that many recruiters form preferences for certain universities largely based on these three top factors: their past experience with graduates, the international exposure graduates had at the universities, and the level of expertise.
