A composer's ear has to imagine what cannot be heard

Dr Chen Zhangyi, Lecturer from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music at NUS, is an all-rounded musician who specialises in composition. He shared that composers need to be familiar with the characteristics of different musical instruments, so as to balance these instruments during composition.
