A tale of two predators

Assoc Prof Hugh Tan and doctoral student Mr Lam Weng Ngai from the Dept of Biological Sciences at NUS Faculty of Science found that the crab spider Thomisus nepenthiphilus uses the trapping mechanism of a pitcher plant Nepenthes gracilis to catch food, while also giving the plant nutrients.
