Asean still the critical catalyst for China's future
Prof Kishore Mahbubani, Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS, opined that China is making some serious strategic mistakes in its dealings with Asean. He noted that China is sacrificing its long-term interests in favour of short-term objectives and its global interests in favour of regional concerns, and that in the process, it is undermining a critical catalyst to its peaceful rise.
