Asean’s strategic diplomacy underpins regional stability
Professor Kishore Mahbubani, Dean of the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at NUS commented on Asean’s success in practising strategic diplomacy over the past 50 years. He opined that Asean has become more than an important neutral zone for great-power engagement and its success in forging unity in diversity is a beacon of hope for our troubled world. Prof Mahbubani added that despite its many imperfections, Asean’s forward progress has been tangible, and its policies and practices of strategic diplomacy deserve appreciation and study by the global community.
