Business opportunity in protecting tropical forests: NUS study

A new carbon prospecting study by researchers from the NUS Centre for Nature-based Climate Solutions posits the business opportunities in tropical forest conservation. The study outlines an economy of carbon credits, a new type of commodity for investment and trade, where governments and firms can pay countries to keep their forests standing to cut global greenhouse emissions. For every unit of carbon dioxide stored by a forest saved from destruction, one carbon credit can be sold.
