China 'trying to become the central Asian power'

Speaking at the third Institute Policy Studies (IPS)-Nathan Lecture held at NUS, Ambassador-at-Large Bilahari Kausikan opined that China’s continued ratcheting up of its presence in the South China Sea is a bid to reassert itself as the central power in Asia. He also warned Asean against thinking that it has US and China’s favor.
