Cross-breeding threatens at-risk stork species: NUS

A study led by Asst Prof Frank Rheindt from the Dept of Biological Sciences at the NUS Faculty of Science found that the conservation of the Milky Stork (Mycteria cinerea), an endangered wading bird native to Southeast Asia, is threatened due to crossbreeding with its more common cousin, the Painted Stork (Mycteria leucocephala).
