Don't turn court trials into public circuses
Prof Tan Cheng Han, Chairman of the Centre for Law and Business at NUS, opined that the new Administration of Justice (Protection) Bill must ensure that an individual’s right to receive a fair trial is preserved, that it does not prevent criticism of judicial decisions or the policies underlying various laws. He added that trials are not entertainment for the masses, and any media outlet which trivialise them as such will seriously undermine our justice system.
