Dust mites more harmful to asthmatics than thought

A study by Assoc Prof Fred Wong from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and Ms Chan Tze Khee, a Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology PhD candidate at the School, found that dust mites and their faecal matter can damage a person’s DNA, which can worsen lung inflammation and lead to cell death if the DNA is not repaired.
