Eco-friendly way to dispose of waste

Prof Wang Chi-Hwa of the Dept of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the NUS Faculty of Engineering, and Dr Thawatchai Maneerung of the E2S2 (Energy and Environmental Sustainability Solutions for Megacities) Create (Campus for Research Excellence and Technological Enterprise) programme at the NUS Environmental Research Institute, highlighted the urgent need to develop a low-cost, high efficiency and environmentally-friendly waste-treatment system in Singapore. One of the many techniques that is being explored by the team is gasification, which is better than incineration in terms of energy efficiency and sustainability.
