Engineering alumni recognised

The NUS Engineering Alumni Gala Dinner, held on 2 September 2016 at the Kent Ridge Guild House, celebrated the achievements of two engineering alumni. Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Masagos Zulkifli and TCL Group’s independent company director Leong Yue Wing received the Distinguished Engineering Alumni Award and the Engineering Alumni Service Honours respectively, for their significant contribution and support to the University and society.

Mr Masagos pursued his professional career with Singapore Telecommunications Ltd, but left to join the public service in 2006. Besides being tirelessly involved in Muslim and grassroots activities, he played a key role in forming disaster relief organisation Mercy Relief.

Mr Leong, who held top positions in Philips Consumer Electronics and TCL Multimedia Technology Holdings Ltd, has been engaging the NUS community, and led the establishment of the “Engineering Class of 1976 Bursary Fund” to aid engineering undergraduates.
