First library of fish DNA from S’pore waters

Dr Zeehan Jaafar, Lecturer from the Department of Biological Sciences at NUS Faculty of Science is the co-lead of the “fish library” project of more than 500 fish species residing in local waters that will be made accessible to the public as early as mid-2021. The first such database in Singapore, the specimens were collected in an expedition in Aug 2019 as part of the larger CodeFish-SG project that seeks to build a comprehensive DNA database of fishes in Singapore.
