Fostering a culture of academic excellence in the research-education-practice nexus

What are the various promotional pathways for academics in NUS? What initiatives are in place to provide clear, diverse pathways to career progression, to empower faculty to achieve their full potential and support them in their teaching and learning across the realms of education, research, and innovation and enterprise?

To cultivate a distinctive blend of excellence that forms the cornerstone of the University, the Tenure Track, Educator Track, Practice Track, and Clinician Track come together to support NUS’ educational mission for outstanding teaching, cutting-edge research excellence, industry experience and strong educational leadership, particularly in the areas of technology-enhanced learning, scholarship of teaching and learning, interdisciplinary education, and lifelong education.

Major innovative developments have also been implemented recently, such as the merger of the Tenure Track and the Educator Track at the full professorial level. This rewards excellent educators with tenured full professorship and demonstrates the equal value NUS places on education and research contributions at the highest level.

Listen in as NUS Vice Provost (Academic Affairs) and Provost's Chair Professor of Computer Science Professor Tulika Mitra shares with us an overview of the academic Tracks for NUS academics in the research-education-practice nexus, and how NUS fosters a culture of excellence in the vibrant community of scholars here. This episode is chaired by Associate Professor Soo Yuen Jien, Director of the NUS Centre for Development of Teaching and Learning (CDTL).

This is the seventh instalment of CDTL’s Teaching Connections Podcasts – a series launched in conjunction with the anniversary of Teaching Connections, CDTL’s e-platform for the NUS community to advance discussions about teaching and share effective pedagogical practices and innovative ideas related to higher education.
