Grooming tomorrow's Asian leaders

Students across Asia came together on 4 November for the TF LEaRN Young Asian Leaders Forum

More than 200 students from universities across Asia converged at NUS on 4 November for the inaugural Temasek Foundation Leadership Enrichment and Regional Networking (TF LEaRN) Young Asian Leaders Forum. Themed "Developing Youth Leadership for Good Governance in Asia", the flagship event of the TF LEaRN Programme seeks to groom the next generation of student leaders in Asia.

In his welcome address, Professor Tan Eng Chye, NUS Deputy President (Academic Affairs) and Provost, highlighted the continued support of the Temasek Foundation as sponsor of the TF LEaRN Programme and its efforts in preparing the leaders of tomorrow.

Guest-of-Honour Mr Ong Keng Yong, Ambassador-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered the keynote speech titled "Governance in ASEAN and Singapore". He shared that ASEAN nations need to collaborate more and reach critical mutual agreements in order to forge a closer community.

The TF LEaRN Programme provides university students, from Southeast Asia as well as China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, an opportunity to spend a semester in Singapore universities to gain exposure and develop networking, community engagement and leadership skills. To achieve a greater level of exchange, the students from Singapore would visit universities in these countries to experience their unique cultures and learn similar skills.

The inaugural forum featured a panel exhibition showcasing the vast learning experiences of the participating scholars.
