Has US politics come to a turning point?

Prof Zheng Yongnian from the East Asian Institute at NUS noted a change in the state of US politics since the advent of globalisation in the 1980s, where the rise of Trump was a rejection of former US President Obama’s alleged move towards socialism through his policies. Prof Zheng also noted a shift in political system preferences with democratic socialism becoming more popular with the youth.
