How can institutional levers be eliminated?
Prof Zheng Yongnian, Director of the East Asian Institute at NUS, observed that the concept of ‘supply-side reforms’ in China is fundamentally about balancing the relationship between the state and the market, and that at the core of this lies the question of removing ‘institutional levers’ – namely the ways that the government can intervene in economic activities.
